Henry Lehne, 98, of Longboat Key, FL. died of natural causes at Plymouth Harbor in Sarasota on February 16, 2013. He was born July 16, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA. Hank earned his engineering degree in 1937 from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University). During a distinguished business career he worked for Republic Aviation, Sylvania, and GT&E. In 1969 he was nominated by President Richard Nixon and served as U.S. Assistant Postmaster General for facilities for three years. He moved to Longboat Key after retiring from GT&E in 1979 and helped establish All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church where he was an active member and leader. He was also a member of the Longboat Key Club and member and Commodore of the Bird Key Yacht Club. His two sons, Henry Theodore Lehne of Lubbock, Texas, and Charles Richard Lehne of Piscataway, New Jersey, survive him. A public memorial service for his many friends and family will be held at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, 563 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key, FL. at 11 AM, Saturday, April 6. His family requests donations to the Lehne Family Fund at Carnegie Mellon University in lieu of flowers.
