King, Hueston Clark
Feb. 3, 1929 - Nov. 29, 2013
Hueston C. King "Hugh" of Venice, Florida, passed away at home on November 29, 2013. Hugh was born in Montclair, NJ, where he was raised. He attended Princeton University
and Columbia Medical School. Hugh married Wilma "Billie" Grove with whom he enjoyed life's adventure until her death in 2010. After serving in the U.S. Army, and acting as team doctor for West Point Military Academy, Hugh moved his family to Miami, Florida, determined never to shovel snow again. Hugh enjoyed a twenty year medical practice in Miami. He and Billie moved to Venice in 1982, where Hugh continued a fulfilling ENT/Allergy practice until he retired.
Hueston enjoyed fishing and being on the water doing just about anything. He loved to travel and Lake Lure, NC, held a special place in his heart. Hugh was a very talented artist and an accomplished pianist. He loved to play his old cowboy songs on his guitar and reminisce about herding cattle in Montana as a teenager. Hugh was also a much respected medical author on the practice of Allergy, having his books translated into several languages.
Hugh is survived by his two children: son, Brian King, and his partner Randy Sprayberry; daughter, Mindy King Ogden, and her husband, Randy Ogden; grandchildren Connor and Lissa; his sister Mary Craig, niece Cynthia Craig (Ken Schneier), nephew John 'Chip' Craig (Lynn), and Grand nephews, John and Scott Schneier.
The family expresses their gratitude for the loving care provided by the Home Instead companions.
A celebration of Hugh's life will be held at Venice Presbyterian Church on December 10th, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Venice Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
