Jacqueline O'Hare McCormick (Jackie), 74, of Sarasota, Florida passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013. She was born March 10, 1939 in Yonkers, New York. She taught in the Miami-Dade and Sarasota County school systems, and was the coordinator of the PALS volunteer program. In 1978, she was named Sarasota County Teacher of the Year. She was a member of the Tri-Sigma sorority and the Delta Kappa Gamma professional society.
She is survived by her daughters: Jacqueline and Pamela; her grandsons: Dallas, Thomas, Elijah and Evan; her sisters: Peggy and Bobbie; her brother-in-law: Bernie; many nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as thousands of students from her years teaching at Pine View School. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:30 pm. Celebration of Life to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer International (heifer.org) or the Conservation Foundation (conservationfoundation.com).
