John C. Brown, 58, died peacefully at his home in Sarasota, Florida on July 28, 2013. Born to Elliot Brown Sr. and Patricia Brown of Claremont NH, John attended High School in Claremont and studied Hospitality Management at Purdue University. For 13 years John owned Jackson Brown Landscape, in Sarasota, sharing his gifts of working with plants and people. Prior to that he worked in the Hospitality industry for many years in Maine, Vermont, and Florida. John spent two years in the Peace Corps teaching agricultural skills in the Dominican Republic. Years after departing the Island John still sent financial aid to a farming couple that he had befriended. John loved traveling, spending time on the water and outdoors. He lived his life along the Coasts of Maine and Florida. He shared many trips with friends from Lakes in Vermont to the Caribbean. John loved music and reading, was a great cook, and a loyal fan of Tampa Bay Rays and Buccaneers. He was especially attached to animals (and they to him). John was a great friend, loved by many people spread throughout the country who will always remember his kind smile, witty sense of humor and endless generosity. John was predeceased by his father Elliott Brown Sr. John Brown is survived by his loving partner of 13 years, Lea Jackson of Sarasota and her family, his mother Patricia Brown, sister Bonnie (Dan) Fink of Maine, brother Elliot Brown Jr. of NH and his family, also Nephews Patrick (Kelley) Fink, and Jim (Barb) Fink and their children. He will be greatly missed by dear friends, family and clients. A Memorial will be held at the large pavilion on Siesta Key beach October 19, 2013, at 9 am.
