John E. Ross, 87, of Venice, FL, formerly of Natick and Wareham MA, died on Feb. 26, 2013.
He is survived by Jean A. (Frongillo) Ross, his devoted wife of 64 years. Born in Pittsfield MA, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Dwyer) Ross. He was a self-employed plumber as well as the plumbing inspector for the Town of Natick. He graduated from Natick High School and entered into the U.S. Marines Corp. in 1943 at age 17. He served his country proudly in World War II in the Pacific Theatre in the Island Hopping Campaign including Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Mr. Ross was a lifetime member of the Natick Elks and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister Helen Palmer; his four children, John and his wife Cheryl of Treasure Island, FL, James of Natick MA, Jeffrey and his wife Diane of Medway MA, Janice Hart and her husband Robert of Medway MA; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Ross. There will be no calling hours and a funeral mass celebrating his life will take place this summer in Natick.
