June Shea of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on December 18th. She was born in Danville, Pennsylvania on June 5, 1923; attended Susquehanna University and was involved in Geisinger Medical Center prior to her marriage to Jack Shea in 1950. Their years together were initially spent in Villanova, PA, moving to Sarasota in 1958.
June's lifetime was dedicated first and foremost to family. She raised and nurtured their four sons, John Jr.; Norman III; Roger and James. She was active in Boy Scouts; raising sea turtles; PTA leadership in numerous schools; a warm hostesses to scores of friends her sons brought home; chauffeuring far-flung science fairs; baseball, tennis, golf, sailing and water sport classes; always weaving a mosaic of being there for the loves of her life.
She was active in various community affairs, serving as beautification chairperson at different locations the largest of which was Whitfield. She served as board member and later president of the Whitfield zoning district and held various volunteer offices in the affairs of the Manatee county schools. She also enjoyed years of foreign travel, boating and parties with her husband and friends at Sarasota Yacht Club and Sara Bay Country Club.
She is survived by her beloved husband Jack, her sons John Shea Jr., Esq.; Norman J. Shea III, CPA; Roger M. Shea, M.D.: James W. Shea with the Sarasota YMCA youth shelter program and Charles R. Shea, a Colorado Springs contractor; 11 grandchildren and a brother William Marks of Venice Florida
There is no visitation but a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers her family suggests donations be made to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County;
