Ken Gross, 63, of Venice, Florida, passed away on July 21, 2013. A celebration of life will be held from 3:30 to 6:00 PM on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Allegro Bistro, 1740 East Venice Avenue, Venice, Florida. Ken was born October 31, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Delores Gross (Dembowski). Ken served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After a 30-year career as a Millwright at General Motors, Ken enjoyed his retirement years in Florida. He is survived by his father, Charles Gross of North Port, FL, two brothers, Charles, Jr. of Dallas, Texas and William (Kim) of St. Petersburg, FL, two sisters, Clara Bosonetto of Venice, FL and Marie Flater of Shelby Township, MI., four nephews, Erich, David, Ryan Gross and Jack Flater; niece, Sydney Flater, and many aunts, uncles and cousins; and two sisters of the heart, Joann and Heather. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores. Ken was a talented artist and devotee of ancient History, Geology and Oceanology. Many of Ken's family and friends, upon learning of his passing, said simply and eloquently that Ken was a good man and that he will be missed dearly. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, Fl. 34238. Ewing Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
