Ken Bayless was born in Santa Clara, CA on Aug. 11, 1921. He served in WWII
in the 10th Mountain Division where he trained near Aspen, CO. This is where he met his bride, Barbara Ann Magee of Shaker Heights, OH and where they were married. He then went on to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley where he earned a graduate degree and his CPA. Ken then went to work for Kaiser Aluminum and was named as one of the top young executives by Henry Kaiser. After Kaiser, he became an Entrepreneur in the Pipe and Mine Business, and Executive Vice President for Stupp Corp. in Baton Rouge, LA. He prided himself on working up to two months before his death.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful Medical Community of Sarasota for the care given to Ken, especially Dr. Monica Bedi and Dr. David Reichel. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Kim (Gale) Thompson, and Jennifer (Tim) Hall, both of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren, Danielle, Sam, of Jacksonville, FL, Jesse of Aspen, CO and Dr. Micah and one great grandchild, Koa Shane of Pacifica, CA.
A memorial service will be held Sat. Jan. 25, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, Oak St., downtown Sarasota, at 2:30 PM with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Internment will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery and in Aspen, CO.
