Lester G. "Sam" Turman Jr., a beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 82, passed away on May 8, 2013. Sam was born in Clarksville, TN on February 10, 1931. He attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and became a Sales Representative for E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company where he retired in 1983 after a successful 25 year career. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Venice, FL.
Sam loved sports and golf, which he played daily as long as he was able. He also enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with his friends on the north jettys. The one lifelong trait that his family and friends will always remember was his ability to talk to anyone about anything. He was very outgoing and always managed a way to find something in common with a stranger to make a new friend.
Survivors include his daughter, Catherine (Bjorn) Hooper of Fort Myers Beach, FL; son, Anthony (Holly) Turman of Fruitland Park, FL; grandchildren Anthony Jr., Brianna, and Madison Turman, all of Fruitland Park, FL; and many, many friends that loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 3 PM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Farley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
