Michael Francis Coghlan, 72 of Sarasota, died Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was born to the late James and Maria Teresa Coghlan, Sept. 9, 1941, in Bellaire, Ohio. Michael graduated from St. Vincent Prep school in Latrobe, PA in 1959 and received a BA in Business Administration from the University of Dayton in 1963. Michael began his career as a Real Estate Title Examiner and eventually owned his own business in Dayton Ohio. He retired in 1980 and relocated to Sarasota, Florida. Michael had a passion for sports and was recognized for his sports trivia knowledge. He was lovingly known as the Mayor of Gulf Gate and will truly be missed by all. Michael is survived by three children: Catherine Coghlan of Pomona Park; Kelly Coghlan-Hebert (Tom) of Sarasota; and Sean Coghlan of Sarasota. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Dillon, Emily, Harrison and Oakland. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Tidewell Hospice. Arrangements are by Jennings Funeral Home & Crematory.
