Bob Wise 97, of Sarasota Florida died September 24th 2013 at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota. Mr. Wise was born in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of Otis Wise and Anna Wise Amicone on August 20, 1916. Bob retired from Richland County Engineering in Mansfield Ohio in 1967, moving to Sarasota he retired from Sarasota County Engineering in 1980. He was proud of his Military years during WW11 which included United States Army Air Corps, and United States Navy. He was also proud of his affiliation with his many organizations. He was past Commander and life member of the VFW Post 3494 of Mansfield Ohio, he was a past Monarch of Samoor Grotto, past Commander of Amvets of Florida, Past Commodore of Sahib Temple Mariners and Past Master Phoenix Lodge #346. Bob was always involved in sports with Mansfield Senior High School where he played football and ran track and where he ran against Jesse Owens and lost the race by just 2 seconds.
He is proceeded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Vivian whom he married March 9th, 1943, son Ronald (Ginny) Wise of Sarasota , and daughter Janice (Jim) Reed of Burbank, Ohio. Two Grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great granddaughter.
Local services will be held at Toale Brothers Funeral Home on Orange Ave. in Sarasota on Sunday September 29th, visitation to begin at 1pm for friends and family, following at 2pm with Masonic services and Reverend Lee Robison officiating at 3 PM. Burial and second services will be held in Mansfield Ohio at Wappner Funeral Home with full Military Graveside services in Mansfield Memorial Park in Mansfield Ohio.
In Lieu of flowers, Vivian is asking that donations be made to the Masonic Home in St. Petersburg or to the Humanitarian Foundation for an Enchanted Lantern.
