Robert E. Tipping, 89, of Sarasota, died peacefully on July 30, 2013. He is survived by his daughters Barbara Armstrong (Steve), children, Elizabeth (Jon) and Robert; Melody Benoit (Craig), children Jasen, (Yolanda) and Jessica. Six great grandchildren: Madeline, Emily, Benjamin, Sabrina, Ethan, and Christopher. Robert is survived by three brothers, Rick, Tom, and locally Bill (son Marc). He was a Naval officer and proudly served in WW11 and the Korean War and continued his service as a Commander in the reserves. Robert was a popular and respected teacher at Sarasota High School, instructor at the Sarasota County Technical Institute, and member of the Kiwanis Club. He volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club, and was a member of Pines Shores Presbyterian Church. Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife Dolores, loved history, and was an avid clock collector. He looked for the best in others and gave the best he had. A service will be held at the National Military Cemetery in Sarasota on Aug. 30th at 11:30. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Kiwanis Club of Sarasota.
