Robert Stehman Eby, 94, formerly of Lititz, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home in Sarasota, Fla.
Born on Christmas Day, 1918, he was the youngest child of the late Frank Erb Eby and Fannie Nissley Stehman Eby. His grandfather was one of the founders of Lititz Mennonite Church and his father and his father's twin brother founded the Eby Shoe Company in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Robert attended Lititz Public Schools, graduating in 1936.
He married the late Marion Eby on Easter Sunday, March 24, 1940 at the Bride's family farm. During the war he was drafted into Civilian Public Service (CPS) and served in Virginia and Maryland. After service he joined the management team at Holsum Bread in Lancaster, was manager at Bareville Furniture and with his wife started Marion Eby Interiors.
In 1993 they retired to Sarasota, Florida where Bob grew to love the Florida weather and the competitiveness of shuffleboard, winning a number of awards. He was a member of Fellowship of Believers Church in Sarasota and had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord.
He is survived by daughters, Barbara, Kay and Ann, sons, Dan and Mark. He has 10 grand-children and 29 great grand-children. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion, daughters, Julia and Linda.
He will be so dearly missed by his family who he spent summers with, up north and out west, entertaining his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5th at 11 :00 AM at Fellowship of Believers Church, 3333 12th Street, Sarasota.
