Ford, Sarah
May 4, 1955 - Feb. 10, 2013
Sarah Ford, 57, of 14 Eldredge Rd., York, Maine and formerly of Sarasota, FL, died at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.
Sarah was born May 4, 1955 in Foxborough, MA, a daughter of the late Roger W. Ford and Laquita S. (Boyer) Rein. She graduated from Foxborough HS in 1973 and from UMASS at Amherst in 1977.
Sarah leaves two sons, Kristopher J. Loftus and Scott Loftus both of Sarasota, FL; a brother John B. Ford and his wife Christine of Wilmington, MA; three sisters Rebecca Ford of N. Attleboro, MA, Elizabeth Ford and her husband John Ambach of York, ME and Susannah Ford and her husband Timothy Tyler of Cape Elizabeth, ME; as well as many beloved nieces and a nephew.
Sarah will be dearly missed by her entire family. She wore her heart on her sleeve from the day she was born, and shared her love, joy, and laughter openly. Her presence brought a special energy and life to every family gathering. She was willing to make any sacrifice for her family, and her siblings in particular can never fully express their gratitude for all the care she gave to their mother.
She was a proud and devoted mother to her two sons, Kristopher and Scott. She cherished the fun and laughter they shared and loved them unconditionally. Leaving them so early in their lives was more than she could bear.
Sarah was wonderfully creative and a talented artist. Her art, in particular her sculpture, was simply amazing. Sarah was eternally optimistic, shockingly funny, kind, thoughtful and sensitive. Thankfully, she is unforgettable.
Sarah will always remain in the hearts of her many friends in Sarasota and St. Petersburg, FL. Her boundless creativity, generosity, and talent as an artist drew in all who came to know her. She loved her "family" at Art Center Sarasota and devoted countless hours to making it a special place in her positions as Finance Director and Chief Operating Officer. Sarah is an inspiration to all those she touched with her happy and warm personality.
Funeral services will be private, however a gathering to celebrate Sarah's life will be held in Sarasota at a date to be determined. Sarah would be happy to know that memorial donations were made in her name to support Art Center Sarasota, 707 N. Tamiami Tr. Sarasota, FL 34236
