Thomas Hardy Prather passed away at the age of 89 years old on Saturday, October 27, 2012 after a short illness. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, November 23 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3011 19th Avenue West, Bradenton, FL (34205) with a private interment subsequently at Sarasota National Cemetery. Hardy is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Freda; his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Beverly Prather and their children and spouses, Jennifer and Mike Taylor, Benjamin and Jennifer Sabo, and Nathan and Jennifer Sabo; and his daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Jerry Spangler and their children, Jared and Meagan, as well as eight great grandchildren. Hardy was born in Miami, Florida, graduated from the University of Florida
with a B.S. degree in Forestry and was a lifelong Gator fan. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II
and the U.S. Air Force in the Korean Conflict
. He was a professional Scout Executive with the Boy Scouts of America for many years and a professional fundraiser for not-for-profits until his retirement. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in remembrance of Hardy to Westminster Presbyterian Church at the above address.
