Todd Lewis Archibald

Archibald, Todd Lewis
Feb. 15, 1967 - Dec. 6, 2013
Todd Archibald, beloved husband, daddy ("Buddy"), son and brother, passed away on December 6, 2013. Todd was born and raised in Sarasota and grew up a "country boy" - hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He went to work with his father at Archibald Electric at age 15 and worked there till his father closed the business. At that point, he went to work for Wenzel Electrical Services and that is where he was happiest. He really loved his job and his adopted family, the Wenzels. On January 8, 1994, Todd's very good friend, Todd Parrish, introduced Todd to a young mother with two very young children. His life changed forever that day and a circle of never ending love began. Teri Campbell Rathfelder quickly became his life, his love, his best friend and his soul mate for the rest of his life. He often wondered what she saw in this "big goofy redneck." Teri saw what everyone did - kindness, compassion, a pure and loving heart, and arms that would tenderly hold you and keep you safe. They married on September 25, 1998 and have shared more joy and happiness in those twenty years than some of us see in a lifetime. He and Teri just liked to be together - be it fishing, camping, boating, gun shows, target shooting, or lazy Sundays cuddled on the couch watching TV. He was particularly proud of his weed eater turned blender that they took on camping trips and boating trips with friends. Theirs was a life filled with friends and family, faith and trust in each other, loving and being loved. Since July 20, 2009, Todd's journey was long and difficult with many complications along the way; he endured many humiliations, fought nausea, pain and disappointment. He amazed the myriad of doctors and nurses that so lovingly cared for him along the way and readily won the hearts of all of them. He willingly crossed these hurdles, always with a positive look to the future and his life with Teri. For him it was pretty simple, he did not want to leave her. We should all be so lucky to have shared that kind of love. Unfortunately, while still fighting and willing to wage that battle, the ultimate and final decision was taken from him. Todd is survived by Teri, his wife of fifteen years and soul mate of twenty years, his mother Lynn Archibald, brother Brian Archibald, stepchildren Caitlin and Blake Rathfelder, and in-laws Don and Karin Campbell, all of Sarasota, along with loving friends too many to count. He leaves us all with shattered, broken hearts but also the memory of that beautiful smile and the love that he shared and gave so willingly. May God grant him a safe and speedy journey to the peace he so richly deserves. The family would like to thank the wonderful Wenzel family, as well as the multitude of friends, for their love, concern, strength and support through all of this. Let us all remember Todd, not for how he died but for courage, his grace, his kindness, his joy in simple things, and how very well he lived and loved. He will remain forever in our hearts and our memories. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Todd Archibald Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank. A Celebration of Life service will be December 31, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Sarasota County Farm Bureau, 7289 Palmer Blvd., Sarasota. Arrangements are by Jennings Funeral Home & Crematory.
