Jo Bateman Obituary
Sept. 23, 1926 - May 2, 2010
Jo Anne Bateman of Sarasota died May 2, 2010.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, Sarasota. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James United Methodist Church, Sarasota, with burial following at Palms-Robarts Memorial Park.
Born Sept, 23, 1926, in Logan, Ohio, she was the daughter of Robert and Grace Adcock.
Jo Anne graduated in 1944 from Logan High School, and was married later that year to Robert L. Bateman. They raised their family of four children in Columbus, Ohio, where Jo Anne was a homemaker and occasionally worked outside the home. Always active in her local church, Jo Anne was active in choir and fellowship organizations, most recently at St. James United Methodist Church of Sarasota.
Jo Anne and Robert retired to Florida in 1987, where they have resided since.
Among her survivors are her husband, Robert L.; her four children, Kathy Boley, Robert B. Bateman, Vaughn (Judy) Bateman and Kurt (Susie) Bateman; her two sisters, Mary Kay Keck of Breman, Ohio, and Martha (Floyd) Gibbs of Ashland, Ohio; grandchildren Todd Boley, Tricia Boley, Adrian Bateman, Christine (Kevin) Patteri, Sean (Amy) Bateman, Ian Bateman and Russell Bateman; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jo Anne's name to TideWell Hospice Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, or St. James United Methodist Church, 2049 N. Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34233.

Dear Kurt & Sue, Please accept my sincere sympathy to you, your Dad and the rest of your family. I remember your Mom's awesome gardens and her hospitality when we often camped by the Muddy Muskingum many years ago. She was always supportive of us renting and then buying riverfront property, boating the river and exploring the McConnelsville area.
Together may you all enjoy many happy memories of your Mom as you miss her too.
