DeStefano, John W.
July 30, 1925 - June 4, 2011

John W. DeStefano, 85, of Sarasota, formerly of New Jersey died June 4, 2011.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughters, Gail of Sarasota; Veronica J. Lupinacci of Sarasota; Arlene of Ventura, Calif. Cindy of Bristol, Va.; sister Florence Sinisi; long term companion, Jean Anderson; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also survived by 11 nieces, nephews and son-in-law, Frank Lupinacci.
He was a WWII. Purple Heart Veteran who served in Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944 with the 83rd Combat Engineers. He was wounded in France. He served as Commander of DAV Chapter 97 of Sarasota and throughout the years he was active in the DAV, VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, a volunteer firefighter; special police and top marksman.

Our heart-felt condolences go out to the De Stefano family. John was a good man and true to his word. He was our landlord for 9 years. We were privileged to have known him. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, John, may you finish learning Spanish up there.
