Raymond Gibson Obituary

Gibson, Raymond E.
May 22, 1933 - June 4, 2011

Ray went home to be with his Lord on June 4, 2011. He was 78. While he was here he was a person who was loved by all who knew him. He was born and grew up in Illinois. He worked for the Michigan-Wisconsin Natural Gas Pipeline for many years before moving to Bismarck, N.D. to work as a Supervisor with the Northern Plains Natural Gas Pipeline. Ray served his country in Korea in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers. He belonged to Grace United Methodist Church in Venice. Ray, or Gibbie as most friends knew him, was a hospital volunteer for many years, earning over 8,000 hours of service.
Ray was so very proud of his family: Mary Jo Slutts, Matthew (Lori), Martin (Shelly) of Illinois, and Mark (Lori) of North Dakota, and his ten grandchildren, Michael, Eric, Emily, Brian, Alexis, Tyson, Hayden, Trenton, Kaylea, and Riley.
In 1992, He and his wife Joyce moved to Venice, Fla. He loved his new home and his many new and wonderful friends. Gibbie loved helping others, walking with his wife, and watching sports on TV. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael, a brother, and a sister.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church. Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Grace United Methodist Church Pre-School, 400 E. Field Avenue, Venice, FL 34285.
