Holmes, Alvin Freeman
July 31, 1940 - May 27, 2011
Alvin Freeman "Al" Holmes, 70, of Sarasota, formerly of Hudson and Ann Arbor, Mich., Buffalo, N.Y., Fort Lauderdale and Naples, died May 27, 2011.
Services will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. Wear casual dress and casual shoes for outdoors.
Survivors include devoted wife Gerri; sister Vivian Dahlberg; son Harold; daughter Jennifer Locascio; stepdaughter Denise Oliver; stepson Nicholas Oliver; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
Al passed away after a short lung illness.
Al was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., grew up on a dairy farm in Hudson, graduated from Albion College in Michigan, and was an industrial hydraulic salesman in the Northeast and Florida. He was a respected real estate investor, and the president of LandlordsOnline.com, APlusTermite.com, and of both the Sarasota and Manatee Landlords' Associations. He worked several years to correct flooding issues in Sarasota after the big flood of 1992. His great love was building and sailing boats.

Big hug to you! What a pleasure knowing you and Al. Thank you for your generosity to Valerie and I. You were such a help to the Public Housing residents. What big hearts! I am sure your friends and neighbors and landlords can't imagine a world without Al. Take good care.
