Amie Greene Mahle Smith, age 92, of Juno Lakes, FL formerly of Sarasota, Florida passed away on July 1, 2013. Born September 27, 1920 in Russell, Kentucky. She was a resident of Sarasota for 50 years before moving to Juno Isles.
Amie was predeceased by first husband Frederick Brown Mahle, who was owner of West Coast Florida Tile and second husband Robert C. Smith, who was the FBI Senior Resident Agent for the Sarasota Area in the 70's.
She was a resident of Sarasota since 1945 when she and her first husband, who was stationed in Sarasota during World War II, married and started their family.
She was very active in many organizations including president of Kiwanee's 1963, Camella Garden Circle and Sarasota Power Squadron. She was very involved with the Miss Florida Pageant when it was held in Sarasota during the 1960's.
She and first husband Frederick Mahle were Charter member of the Field Club. She was also a member of the Sarasota Yacht Club and Forest Lakes Country Club.
Amie was owner of Village Casuals of Siesta Key during the 1970's. She loved fashion, modeling, dancing, boating, bowling and her weekly poker group.
Amie will be most remembered for her devotion to her children and family. Amie will be missed by her devoted daughter Sue (Toby) Spurge, son Frederick Bruce (Aundre') Mahle, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Gary Lee Mahle.
