Barbara Montgomery Obituary

Montgomery, Barbara H.
Sept. 17, 1925 - May 15, 2011

Barbara H. Montgomery, 85, of Sarasota died May 15, 2011.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Church of the Palms, followed by the cremation ashes placed in Palms Memorial Garden.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Bob, of 62 years; a daughter, Sherry Merschoff of Pasadena, Md.; two granddaughters, Megan Merschoff of Shrewsbury, Pa. and Alison Merschoff of Fort Worth, Texas.
Barbara was born in Englewood New Jersey Hospital and was brought up from birth in Tenafly, N.J. In high school she achieved straight A's in all her classes and started attending college classes at night. After graduation she kept up with college at night and was hired by the Wakefield Trust Bank.
Barbara had an excellent singing voice used extensively through out high school and church choirs. She developed two trios who entertained for seven years on stage, radio and television, from New York City, New Jersey, and New England. The governor of Connecticut who did four to five State tours every year, invited the trio to tour with him and provide entertainment.
Barbara took flying lessons during her period at the bank. She left the bank and became the Office Manager for the Bridgeport Flight Service Company at the Bridgeport Airport, that lasted six months. Then she was employed at the local Kraft's Food Plant. She remained and retired from Kraft Foods. She will always be associated with Kraft's Food.
In 1980 Barbara and her husband retired and moved from Boston to Sarasota. They became associated with a new travel agency, V.I.P. World Travel, and they spent the next 25 years escorting groups all over the world.

Barbara was my Grandmother. She was an intelligent lady who taught me how to be a kind and upright sort of girl. I will miss her and I will always cherish my memories of her. Thank you to every one who knew and loved my Grandma.

Barbara was one of the kindest, warmest, absolutely sweet people I've ever known. And she made the world's best sandwiches. I am a better person for having known her. God bless Barbara and her wonderful husband and family.
