Catherine Frances Sheehy, of Sarasota, formerly of Chicago, entered into Eternal Life with Jesus our Divine Savior on December 7th, 2013. She was the beloved daughter of Catherine Tighe Sheehy and James J. Sheehy. CPD (Chicago Police Department). She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, John "Jack" Sheehy, US Army Veteran, and her sisters, Mary Lynch Sherrier, Loretta Fischer, Norine Greco Ettinger, and Eileen Fischer. She is survived by her brother, Father Vincent Sheehy, Pastor Emeritus of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Venice, Florida, and also several nieces and nephews.
Catherine Frances had a profound love of her Catholic Faith and also a great affection for her Irish Heritage. Both of her parents were from the Republic of Ireland. She was an accountant, and a graduate of Florida International University, Miami. In Chicago, she was employed by BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) and BWIA (British West Indies Airways), and Air India. She traveled world-wide. In Miami, she was employed by the US Government Accounting Department. She retired in Hollywood, Florida and later moved to Sarasota.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by her brother and other priests at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Road, Venice, Florida at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 19th. National Cremation & Burial Society, Sarasota, is handling the arrangements.
Burial will be private in the family interment site at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Hillside, IL. In lieu of flowers, Mass Intentions are appreciated or contributions in her memory to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, 1000 Pinebrook Road, Venice, Florida 34285, for the benefit of the poor children in Central Florida.
