Cynthia Calisch, 55, of Sarasota, FL, died on Nov. 1, 2013.
Cynthia Edna Calisch, longtime resident of Sarasota, Florida died in her home on Friday, November 1st, 2013. She was 55. Her heroic and inspiring struggle with breast cancer ended as it was waged, on her terms, with loved ones close at hand.
Cynthia was born August 5th, 1958 in Danville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Louis and Gloria Calisch. To her delight, she was happily married to Preston Larus for the last 14 years.
Starting in Danville, ending in Sarasota, Cynthia also spent many happy years in Richmond, Virginia, working in the travel industry. After moving to Sarasota, Cynthia enjoyed success in real estate, working with Keller Williams Realty. In the last years, she was a volunteer chapter leader for the non-profit Weston A. Price Foundation and was tireless in making traditional, unprocessed foods available to her community.
In addition to her husband, Cynthia is survived by her step-son Zachary, her sister Cathy, and her brother, Hal. She was predeceased by her dear brother, Chip, in 1985. Her departure will leave a gaping hole in the lives of 14 nephews and nieces and 10 grand nieces and nephews, all of whom were accustomed to her loving attention. 6 "children" of the feline persuasion will never get over their loss of Cynthia.
A memorial and life celebration will be held at the family home at 1014 Mecca Drive in Sarasota, Saturday, November 9th at 2 pm for family only, continuing at 4 pm for friends of Cynthia and Preston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Weston A Price Foundation.
