Hanns R. Ehrhardt, 95, of Sarasota, formerly of Naples, Fla., died May 7, 2011.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at Waterside Estates, 4540 Bee Ridge Road on June 23 at 2:30 p.m.
Survivors include his daughter, Ursula of Salisbury, Md.; a granddaughter, Nicole Marcson of Washington, D.C.; grandsons, Alexander and Stefan of Switzerland; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his teenage sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Emmy; and son, Rolf of Sarasota.
Dr. Ehrhardt was born in Regensburg, Germany and attended the universities of Berlin and Munich, receiving his medical degree from Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, in 1940. He was a doctor in the German army during World War II. After immigrating to the United States in 1949, he settled in Ohio, working as a physician for the Selby Shoe Company in Portsmouth and for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron. In 1956 he established himself in private practice as a family physician. After his retirement in 1975, he worked as a volunteer physician for Senior Friendship Centers in Naples and Sarasota, where he served from 1975 until 2008.
