John Morris (Morry) Onyett, 94, of Sarasota, died peacefully on July 11, 2012. Morry was born in Louisville KY on June 30, 1918 and moved to Barberton OH where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Harriette Garland. They celebrated 57 yrs. of marriage before her death in 1996. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1943 and served in the South Pacific, both on Iwo Jima and Guam. Morry was active in the Norton Sports Boosters, 1st Presbyterian Church, Barberton Elks and Grand Masonic Lodge where he was a Master Mason. He owned Onyett & Krupa Clothiers in downtown Barberton until retiring to Sarasota in 1978. Morry attended the 2004 WWII Memorial dedication in Washington DC and was honored as the featured veteran in a series of Sarasota Tribune articles, "Looking Back with Valor." He is survived by son Jon (Robynn) Onyett, Roanoke VA, daughters Cheryl (Ron) Price, Wadsworth OH and Roxanne Foley, Sarasota FL, four grandchildren, Tami Foley Conetta, Christopher Foley, Erik Onyett & Lyndsey Onyett, and two beloved great-granddaughters Lillian Onyett and Emory Conetta, who affectionately named him Mo-Mo. Private service will be Aug. 3 at the National Cemetery in Sarasota. Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238
