Obituary Condolences

Helmuth, Martha M.
May 24, 1918 - Dec. 2, 2012
Martha (Miller) Helmuth, age 94 of Plain City, OH born May 24, 1918 to Joe & Martha (Stutzman) Miller, went home to see her Savior, on Sunday December 2, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eli A. Helmuth; 4 children, Louella, her firstborn at 7 months of age, Mary and John who died at birth and a stillborn daughter; brothers, Dan, Jake, Melvin, Joe Miller; sisters, Mary Mast, Lydiann Miller, Sarah Gingerich, Susie Miller; son-in-law: Ivan A. Yoder. She is survived by her loving family: sons, Jacob (Lydiann) Helmuth, Bill (Fannie) Helmuth of Plain City, OH; daughters, Carolyn Helmuth of Dublin, OH, Betty (Steve) Kaetterhenry and Edna (Moses) Gingerich of Waxhaw, NC, Martha (Terry) Major of Pierceville, KS and Bonnie (Robert) Montgomery of Aldie, VA; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Amanda (Al) Helmuth of Plain City, OH and Ada (Jonas) Helmuth Miller of Hazelton, IA, and many nieces and nephews. Martha loved the Lord and for as long as her family can remember she had the practice of getting up early in the morning before daylight to spend an hour or more communing with her Heavenly Father through Scripture reading and prayer. Each child, grandchild, and great-grand-child was mentioned by name. Others were mentioned as well; those with special needs, the pastors, church members, missionaries. Her prayers will be missed but now she can take them directly to the Father. Martha's other passion was quilting. She pieced and quilted over 100 quilts in her lifetime, donating many to Shekinah Christian School and the Haiti relief sale. Her last four years on earth were spent bedridden under the complete care of her children, especially her daughter Carolyn and sons, Bill and Jake. Her body was weak and failing, but her spirit and sense of humor were as alive as ever. She was a blessing to all who would visit and she had a sweet, uncomplaining spirit, always thanking anyone who cared for her, even if they only gave a drink of water. She longed for the day she would "see her Savior first of all". She will be missed. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at the United Bethel Mennonite Church, 11342 Lafayette-Plain City Rd., Plain City, OH where the funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 5, 2012 and additional calling hours from 12:00-1:30 PM Wednesday prior to the service. Burial at United Bethel Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Loving Care Hospice, 56 S. Oak St., London, OH 43140.
