Rose Marie Bass Obituary
Bass, Rose Marie
January 6, 1921 - May 20, 2018
Rose Marie Bass, 97, formerly of Cranford NJ went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2018.
Rose was a graduate of Seton Hall University and Rutgers University with a Masters Degree in Social Work. She had a special gift of understanding, compassion and deep acceptance of others which made her work with patients suffering from severe mental illness truly exceptional.
In retirement she continued to serve others through her volunteer work at Resurrection House in Sarasota a faith-based organization for the homeless. She was an avid reader active in book clubs throughout her life and always keenly up to date on news/current events and politics. She was an inspiration to her many friends at her gym as even into her 96th year she exercised for 2 hours three days a week. Deeply spiritual she was a devoted prayer warrior for her large family and many friends. A gifted artist she painted throughout her life and her work graces the walls of many friends and relatives.
She is predeceased by Daniel Bass, her beloved husband of 67 years, and her son Robert (Angela) Bass. She is survived by her sons Michael (Sara) Bass of Sarasota Florida, and Steven (Pamela) Bass of Englewood, Colorado, and her daughters Dr. Virginia Bass (Theresa) of Ocean, New Jersey and Dr. Patricia (Dr. Leon) Grigoryev of Mechanicsville, Virginia, as well as 10 grandchildren and 8 great grand children. To have known her was to have loved her, her life having been the embodiment of 1Corinthians 13:4-8.
Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday June14th at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Sarasota, Florida. Services will be at St Martha's Catholic Church at 10AM on June15th. Internment will be in the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Resurrection House, 507 Kumquat Court, Sarasota Fl 34236.
