William G "Bill" Hull, 95, of Sarasota, formerly of Bristol, Conn. died May 16, 2011.
Services have been held in Euclid, with interment of the ashes at a later date.
Survivors include spouse Italia (Tally) Elena; children - Larry G., Lynn S. Ives; sisters, Amelia (Amy) Kail, Jean Sames, Harriet Ward; four granddaughters and four great grandchildren.
Bill loved all his family dearly and is also survived by sister-in-law, Irene Sanna, niece Doris Cox, two other nieces, one nephew and two great nephews.
Bill moved to Siesta Key, Fla. from Leete's Island, Guilford, Conn. in 1976, the same year retiring from the Travelers Insurance Co. after 38 years as Director, Casualty Property Dept. For the next 17 years he was President of Hull Bank Consultants, Inc, doing work for the American Bankers Association and Tillinghast/Towers-Perrin. In 1937 he earned a BS degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Kappa Alpha. In 1954 he qualified as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and is a life member of the Society of CPCU. During WWII Bill served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He was a life member of American Legion Post 266 and VFW, Post 3233. He was a 61 year member of Masonic Lodge of Guilford, CT, member of Scottish Rite Valley of Hartford, Conn., and a Charter member of Sahib Shriners in Sarasota, Fla. where he was Chaplain of the Sahib Legion of Honor. He also was a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, Sarasota Scottish Rite Club, National Sojourners, Heroes of 76, and the Sarasota Elks Lodge, 1519.
Bill was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and associate member of the Church of the Palms, Presbyterian. Bill lived life to the fullest: club square-dancing, league bowling, and racing sailboats where in 1976 he medaled in the Senior Olympics with his Sunfish.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital in Tampa, Fla. or to the charity of your choice.
