Winn Bachman, 88, of Osprey, Florida, formerly of Middletown, NJ, died on Mar. 25, 2013.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to Sydney and Gertrude (Lowenstein) Bachman, Winn grew up in Bradley Beach on the New Jersey oceanfront. He lived in Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, Wanamassa and Middletown before retiring to Sarasota (Osprey), FL in 1988.
Winn graduated from Asbury Park High School where he met his wife of 66 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Crane of Neptune City. After high school, he served as a map and document specialist in Southeast Asia, mostly in China, with the U.S. 14th Air Force Corp - the Flying Tigers - during World War II. After the War, Winn worked for the United States Postal Service and was a founding partner of Woodlake Dental Labs in Lakewood, NJ. He retired from the dental lab in 1988 and moved to Sarasota. Winn played tennis and enjoyed baseball, especially his beloved New York Mets. He loved music and played the saxophone since high school. As a member of a local jazz band, he often entertained at the Senior Friendship Centers of Sarasota.
Winn was predeceased by his wife, Jackie Crane Bachman. Surviving are his loving daughters, Susanne Fiore Losso and her husband, Augie of Osprey, FL; Nancy Bachman of Neptune City; Patti Berkowitz and her husband, David, of Middletown; and Joanne Rogers of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are his grandchildren, two grandsons, Matthew and Daniel, and two granddaughters, Anna and Jacqueline Grace.
In keeping with Winn's wishes, funeral services will be private. Condolences may be sent to Patti Berkowitz, 89 Kingfisher Drive, Middletown, NJ 07748.
