Kelley, Arthur H.
Oct. 8, 1940 - Feb. 13, 2012

Arthur (Art) H. Kelley, age 71, of Sarasota, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 13th. Art was born Oct. 8, 1940 in Catskill, N.Y. He attended the University of Maine and enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry prior to his retirement.
Art will be remembered most as a true inspiration to others. Although he spent much of this adult life in a wheelchair due to multiple sclerosis, he never let it slow him down. Known as the "Iron Man of Benchrest", Art had a passion for competitive benchrest shooting. He participated and competed not only locally, but also in matches across the country, always accompanied by his faithful assistance dog and best friend, Bronco.
Art is survived by a son, Jim Kelley and daughter in law, Dawn Kelley of Venice, Fla.; granddaughter, Samantha Altheide of North Port, Fla.; former wife, Bette Kelley of Sherman, Texas; sister, Helen Shutts of N.Y.; brother in law, Bobby Chelelli of Hudson, N.Y.; beloved assistance dog, Bronco, and longtime supportive friends, Dee Deaterly of Venice and many in the benchrest shooting community.
An open house in Art's honor will be held from 2-6 p.m. Friday, at 6410 Approach Rd. Sarasota.
