Robert S. Bernard, 80, Longboat Key, formerly of Albany, N.Y. died April 24, 2012.
Graveside services and interment will be held in New Jersey.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Rochelle.
Mr. Bernard was born in New York City and attended NYU (B.S., 1951; LL.B., 1954; LL.M. 1961) He began his career in law, moving to the Albany area in 1964. He founded the Law Firm of Bernard, Overton, and Russell in Albany N.Y. which represented over 40 hospitals and banks in upstate N.Y. He later became an Administrative Law Judge in New York City for over five years and also an arbitrator for the National Association of Security Dealers and the New York Stock Exchange.
He was active in the community by serving on many boards in leadership positions and was a member of many non-profit organizations.
Locally in Longboat Key, he served as president of the Sanctuary Condominium Association, a docent at the Ringling Museum and a trustee for the Longboat Key Firemen's Pension fund.
Mr. Bernard's family was always his first priority.
He will be greatly missed by all.
