Lyle Payne Jr.
Lyle L. Payne Jr., 83, of Knoxville, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the North Knoxville Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancye C. Payne; son, Robert B. Payne and wife, Karen; daughter, Carol Payne Smith; grandson, Keith Smith and wife, Pam; granddaughters, Bridgette Payne and Jill Norton; and great-grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter, Andrew, and Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Bernice Payne.
He grew up in Houston graduated from Texas A&M, and served in the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army. Lyle was in the oil industry for more than 30 years, and was co-owner of the Crystal Vase, in Houma, for 25 years.
