Monett, Betty Elaine
Nov. 23, 1936 - Jun. 9, 2012
Betty Elaine Monett passed away on June 09, 2012 after a courageous battle with a devastating illness over the past 21 months. A service will be held on June 18, 3:00 pm, at the Sarasota National Cemetery, with a party in Betty's honor immediately following at 6683 Old Ranch Rd, Sarasota. Betty was born in Rochester, NY and was predeceased by her parents and brother, Rudy, Elsie (Wihlen), and Donald Schmidt. Betty and her husband Ken, new one another from the ages of 6 and 9 years old, and were married on August 23, 1958. They shared almost 54 years of life together, not only as husband and wife, but as forever best friends. They moved their family to Sarasota nearly 37 years ago, where aside from being a wonderful wife and mother, she worked full time for 10 years at the Southern Gas Company. After that she and Ken owned and operated Mom's Coin Laundry. They both retired in their 50's and split their time between Bradenton, FL and Conesus, NY. Betty found true happiness outside in the yard, or doing anything with friends and family. We'll miss you Mimi, 'til we meet again, we'll watch your clouds. Betty is survived by her Husband Ken, daughters, Linda Monette, and Karen (Mark) Konzel, grandchildren, Bryan (Laura) Boley, Nico and Alisha Ferry, and Tim and Trisha Konzel all of Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the TideWell Hospice, Sarasota, FL.
