Mario, Cannucciari

Cannucciari Mario, 79, of Venice, FL, formerly of Cheshire, CT, died on June 22, 2012.
He passed away at the Tidewell Hospice House in Venice, after being in declining health for the past two years.
Mario was born in West New York, N.J., and grew up in Waterbury, Conn. He moved to this area from Cheshire, Conn., in 1988.
He graduated from Leavenworth High School in Waterbury and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served at sea as a boilerman.
Mario worked for many years as a steamfitter, industrial plumber and later as a handyman in the Waterbury area. He was a member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department.
After moving to Florida, Mario worked as a cook and noncertified counselor at First Step of Sarasota, where he positively influenced many lives and was repeatedly recognized for his contributions.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman who always kept abreast of current events and was devoted to his family.
Mario is survived by his loving wife, Janet Cannucciari; daughter Lisa Gruber and her husband, Bill; son Edward Cannucciari and his wife, Susan Giansante; daughter Rhonda Curran and her husband, David; daughter Diana McKelvey and her husband, Barry; grandchildren Piper and Tyne Curran and Courtney and Tyler McKelvey; and his beloved dog, Toto. He was predeceased by his parents, Baldovino and Maria Cannucciari, and sisters Catherine Cannucciari and Rosemary Lambert.
There will be a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Epiphany Cathedral, 350 Tampa Ave. W., Venice.
