Marj Baldwin, 88, of Sarasota died at her home on Aug. 1, 2012. Services will be held at the Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave., Aug. 13 at 1 pm. Marj moved to Sarasota from Milford, CT with her daughter Kim in 1970. Marj was President of the Sarasota Tiger Bay Club from 1985 to 2009 when she retired due to the onset of Vascular Dementia. She founded Score for a Child in 1982, a nonprofit organization that purchased equipment for handicapped children in the tri-county area. Due to her fundraising efforts, a therapeutic pool was built at Oak Park School name in her honor and another in Venice dedicated to her daughter Kristen Beach who died from Breast Cancer in 1997. She was proud of her heritage and never missed an opportunity to call herself a "Yankee." She was best known for her sharp wit and personality and her fearless handling of people and issues at the Sarasota Tiger Bay Club. Preceded in death by her parents, Mary Waller Sharkey and Howard I. Comstock, her brother, Howard I. Comstock Jr., and her daughter, Kristen Beach. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Patrick) Mann and Kim Noyes; grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Beach, Matthew (Carrie) Mann, Darby Mann, Morgan Mann and Jordan Noyes, along with great grandchildren, Connor, Harrison and Jackson Beach. Donations should be sent to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness and TideWell Hospice of Sarasota.
