Kester, Carl M.

Carl M. Kester, MD, 86, of Sarasota, formerly of Dundee, IL. died on July 29. Dr. Kester practiced family medicine in Dundee, Illinois for 35 years and was completely and totally devoted to his patients. Carl graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, MO., and received his medical degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine.
Carl served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant Major, and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Fox Valley Power Squadron. Carl enjoyed sailing, flyfishing, and camping. He was also a voracious reader. He was also an active pilot for many years and pursued welding as a hobby and taught himself Morse Code.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Carl is survived by his wife of a million years, Audrey, children: Jill Ryan (Brendan) of New York City; Cindy Binnendijk (Herry) of Denton, Maryland. Grandchildren: Nicholas Binnendijk of Edgewater, MD., Caroline Binnendijk of Annapolis, MD., and Sean and Emily Ryan, both of New York City. Carl is predeceased by his beloved son, Larry, brother David, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 4,2012 at 11:00am at St. Andrew, United Church of Christ, Sarasota. A reception at the church will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in his name to St. Andrew, UCC or Tidewell Hospice House.
