Mrs. Barbara "Sammy Jo" Spear, Clerk for the Circuit Court, Sarasota County, 53, of Sarasota, Florida, died on Aug. 13, 2012. Services will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at South Gate Community Center in Sarasota, FL.
Barbara died in her home with her daughter Liana by her side. Barbara had been fighting breast cancer since 2009 and recently it had spread. She passed peacefully and without pain. There will be a memorial service at the South Gate Community Center from 1:30-3pm, Saturday August 25th at 3145 South Gate Circle, Sarasota, FL 34239.
She is survived by her husband Scott and her daughter Liana Kai of Sarasota, as well as her brothers David & George, and sister Tracy.
A 1977 graduate of Girard High School, PA, Barbara moved to Florida in the early 80's. She and Scott were married in 1985 in Sarasota.
She will be remembered for her love of reading and her relationship with her cats, whom she cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the employees of Icard Merrill have set up a trust fund at SunTrust bank for Liana's college:
