Richard Dale Greider, 82, formerly of Glen Ellyn, IL. and Columbia, PA., died peacefully at home on August 16, 2012 of natural causes. He was born in Columbia, PA. on September 6, 1929. Following high school, he served in the US Navy for 4 years. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Thelma Welsh in 1950. The Greiders moved to the Chicago area in 1960 where he worked most of his career as a Plant Manger and Vice President for Spanjer Bros. sign company In 1990 Dale and Thelma retired and moved to Venice. He loved Venice and called it "Paradise".
In 1975 Dale had open surgery at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, where he had a mitral heart valve implanted, miraculously lasting over 37 years. He fought the good fight to the end with dignity and was gentle spoken man, one of the best to have as a husband, father, and friend. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma, his, son, Brent Greider (Batavia, IL.), and his daughters, Dianne Welsh (Lake Worth, FL.) and Sharon Greider Kutch (Wheaton,IL.) Grandchildren include Wyatt Pavlik (Venice, FL.), Brody Kutch (Wheaton, IL.) and a sister, Jean Grider (Columbia, PA.)
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
