Patricia "Pinkie" Scull Hemstad was born March 15th, 1943 in Bridgeport, CT,
grew up in Stratford, CT, spent most of her adult life in Sarasota, FL, and eventually moved and retired to Mansfield, TX. She was full of life and laughter and as a result made hundreds of friends that spanned decades and miles across the US. She adored the ocean and yearned to someday return to Sarasota.
She was a fiercely strong woman who met every challenge with fight and passed this on to her family. She had so much artistic talent that even suffering a massive stroke in 2007 didn't keep her down, she continued to paint beautiful portraits and scenery that she would share with friends and family and won several awards and contests. Her Great Grandson Ben and Grandson Zachary adored her and she adored them. She loved posting stories about her "Boys" on Facebook and they loved protecting her and holding her hand as they would walk around her community. Her Daughter and Granddaughter loved picking her up for unexpected trips for Margaritas and live music. She would say "YES!" every time and could stay out later than everyone. She was spicy, strong, determined, intelligent, loving and she was our rock and foundation. Her absence leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
Your body is free now, Nanom, soar above us please and keep your eyes on us.
We sure need you and you will be desperately missed.
She is survived by her youngest daughter, Ellary Dugdale; granddaughter,
Heaven McDonald; grandson, Zachary Dugdale; great grandson, Benjamin Morales; nieces Kim Walsh and Amy Walsh and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Bess Scull, her sister,
Sally Walsh and her eldest daughter, Erika Hemstad.
