Mary Arline Hohlt, 96, of Sarasota, Florida passed away Friday, April 25, 2014. She was born the fifth child of the late Emil and Caroline Layton in St. Louis, Missouri and is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth W. Hohlt. Since 1963, Arline was passionate about real-estate and served on numerous boards and committees including Past-president of the Women's Council of Realtors and District 5 Vice-President. She was honored in 1971 as Realtor of the Year for the Sarasota Association of Realtors and Women's Council of Realtors. She served as President of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce and the Siesta Village Merchant Association. Active in her career well into her nineties, she believed in giving back to the community. In 1999, Buffini & Company honored her as "The Most Inspirational Person" and named the award in her name.
Arline is survived by her children, sons Kenneth W. Hohlt Jr. and wife Deanna, Stanley A. Hohlt, daughter Kristine Niehaus and son Douglas and wife Marjorie. She was the loving grandmother to Kenneth W. Hohlt III, James A. Hohlt, Stacie L. Niehaus-Rossow and husband David P. Rossow, Brian Niehaus, Aaron Hohlt, Cory Hohlt and wife Bretteni, Ryan Hohlt, and Jared Hohlt. She was the beloved Momo to her Great grandchildren Ashtyn, Kenneth W. IV, Jase A., Phoenix A., David H., Kristina R., Emma L., Ayanna R., Seth M., and Alaina E.
A visitation will beheld on Tuesday April 29th, 5-8 PM at Toale Brothers Colonial Chapel 40 N. Orange Ave, Sarasota, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday April 30, 9:30 AM at
St. Thomas More Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL; and Burial at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL.
