Robert was born on May 27, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Orangeburg, SC. He graduated from Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg and received a BA from Kenyon College, and MA and PhD degrees in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Helen Boulware Moore, his son, Michael Boulware Moore, his daughter, Robin Moore Jenkins, and five grandchildren. Robert wore three hats throughout his professional life: university professor, corporate consultant, and jazz musician. In academe, he taught philosophy and African American Studies. As a consultant, he specialized in diversity training and organizational development. And as a jazz musician, described by one critic as a "free bop improviser", he played saxophone in the tradition of John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins.
