Gerard J. "Roddy" Rottkamp passed away peacefully on July 29, 2014. Born in Elmont, NY on January 19, 1920. He was the eldest child of Margaret and Joseph Rottkamp. Gerard was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Wilfred, Robert and Joseph (infant) and his sister Mildred Hoeffner. He owned his own business, Rottkamp Trucking. In 1973, he retired and together with his wife Evelyn, they made their home in Sarasota, FL. Roddy was an active member of St. Jude's Parish, serving as usher. He had been a member of the Elks, and a long-time Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Victory Council where he devoted many volunteer hours over the years.

Roddy is survived by his wife of nearly 71 years, Evelyn L. (Strutt) Rottkamp, three children and their spouses, Carol McGovern (Terry) of Huntington Station, NY, Robert Rottkamp (Cindy) of Sarasota, FL and Lois Ollry (Jan) of Brevard NC. He also leaves three grandchildren, Allison Dyer (Boyd), Maureen Higgins (Matthew) and Benjamin Rottkamp (Vanessa) and six great-grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as "Old Grandpa".

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palms - Robarts Funeral Home, 170 Honore Avenue Sarasota on Friday, August 1st. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Victory Council 4880 Fruitville Rd. Sarasota, FL or to St. Jude's Catholic Scholarship Program, 3930 17th St. Sarasota, FL 34235.
