Lowell S. Deaton, 84, of Sarasota died Aug. 6, 2009.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Meadows Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marcella "Marcie" Edna Coleman of Sarasota; a brother, Lamar of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eloise Deaton, and a sister, Ruth Deaton Kearfott.
Mr. Deaton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, participating in the Normandy Beach Invasion. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1952. He retired from the General Electric Company in 1971, after 19 years, serving in various management positions. He also served as Executive Vice-President of the BDP Company, a division of the Carrier Corporation, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Deaton moved to Sarasota in 1989 from Carmel, Ind. He was a member of the Meadows Country Club, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Sahib Shrine.
