Ethel Wilson Bass, 73, born Dec. 13, 1939 in Sayre, Pennsylvania and came to Orlando, FL. in Feb., 1954. She attended Edgewater High School in Orlando. She met Manuel in Aug., 1954 and married in July 1956. She was employed by Orange County Credit Bureau. They moved to Osprey in May 1957, her husband's birthplace. In 1958 they moved to Sarasota. She was then employed by the Sarasota County Credit Bureau. She graduated from the Sarasota Adult Education program in April 1961. In 1967 the family moved to Beaver, Pennsylvania and she was then employed by the Beaver County Credit Bureau. In June 1970 the family moved to Nokomis. She was with GTE for eighteen years, later became a certified nursing assistant, doing private patient care. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, teaching first aid. She was forced to retire in 1994 after suffering a stroke.
She was predeceased by her parents, Herb and Millie Wilson of Homosassa Springs and Nokomis and a brother, Frederick Wilson Avery of Groton, NY.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel of Nokomis; daughter Cherese of Sarasota; sons Larry of Sarasota, Paul (Patti) of Venice and Curtis of Osprey. Also Lori (Jacky) Savoie of Venice; grandchildren Ashley Greene of Tallahassee, FL., Jeff, Paul 2nd, Nicholas (Rebecca) and Erica of Venice; great grandchildren Nicholas Lawrence, Wesley and Wyeitt, and Kylie of Venice.
Ethel was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Osprey. No memorial service is planned. A private family internment will be held in the Osprey Cemetery, Osprey, FL.
National Cremation and Burial Society is in charge of the arrangements.
