Leo John Sheehan 83, of Venice, Florida entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his home. He was born in Syracuse, New York on October 6, 1929 the beloved son of Leo and Mabel Sheehan. He was Vice-President of Anaconda Metal Hose in Waterbury, Ct from 1958 until his retirement in 1995. A devout Catholic, Leo was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Venice, Florida and St John of the Cross in Middlebury, Ct. Leo graduated from the University of Syracuse in 1957 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. He served in the U.S Navy during the Korean War on the USS Parle.
Leo is survived by his wife of 58 years Marilyn (Daly) Sheehan, his children; a son James and his wife Pamela of Red Hook, NY, a son Brian and his wife Deirdre of Oakville, CT, a son Lee of Southbury, CT, and a daughter Susan of Waterbury, CT, grandchildren; Austin, Jason, Tyler, Mathew, Garrett, and Connor. He is also survived by a brother, Robert and his wife Nancy of Baldwinsville, NY and many cherished nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by a brother Richard in 1978, and a son Paul in 1959.
Leo was an avid boater, enjoying both sailing and waterskiing. Golfing during his retirement years with Joe, Forrest, Bobby, and Jim was a place where Leo found great pleasure. Leo was a loving and dedicated husband and father and a true gentleman. He loved his family dearly and cherished all his moments with them. A celebration of life memorial service was held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 1 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Funeral arrangements by: Ewing Funeral Home.
