Born August 8, 1931 in Glen Burnie, MD died after an unexpected illness on July 23, 2013. Only child of Elmer G. Sauer and Therese Gerda Stickfort, beloved husband (50 years in November 2013) to Dolores "Dee" Sauer; father of G. Michael Bryner (wife Asita) of Weston, Matthew E. Sauer (wife Nicole) of Palmetto and predeceased daughter Cheryl Bryner of Harless. Grandfather of Caden Grant Bryner, Dominic Nolan Bryner and Conner James Elmer Sauer.
Elmer served in the 3rd Infantry Battallion, presidential honor guard, Ft. Myer, VA. He received his bachelor's degree in Soil Science and Agriculture from the University of Maryland in 1957. He was a guardian ad litem for several years in Bradenton and a mentor to children and caregivers going through the court process.
Elmer loved his family and friends, lived well, laughed often, traveled extensively, and enjoyed his home and garden, fishing, golf, bowling, and sports events. He was a gentle, but firm man, a Christian who tried to live those principles, leaving this world a better place. Memorials may be made in his name to The Therese Gerda Sauer Scholarship Fund State College of Florida, Take Stock in Children, The Humane Society of Manatee County, Tidewell Hospice, or Meals on Wheels.
