Arthur J. Falls, 86 years old, passed to his eternal reward July 27th at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph F. Falls and Estelle Branagan Falls, he was the second of 6 children and was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Married to Nancy Stribling Falls of Ashland, IL, for 50 years. His early married life: until 1978, they raised four children. Both parents were graduates of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL.
Art's earlier years in Illinois: had been in government and politics, heading up campaigns for Presidential elections from Barry Goldwater, candidate, to President Gerald Ford in 1976, along with acting as a delegate for state for 18 years. He was appointed as Director of Transportation and Safety along with appointment as Financial Aid Administrator at the University of Illinois.
In 1978 he and wife Nancy retired, moved to Longboat key & decided to utilize Nancy's major as a fashion designer in an upscale retail career on Longboat Key where their shop flourished.
Art was given the nickname "Godfather of Longboat Key" where he will be remembered forever.
Arthur leaves his four loving children Robert of Evanston, IL, Betsy of Longboat Key, Joseph of Bradenton, and Nancy Susan of Winter Park, FL; his loving daughters in law Kat Moynihan Falls and Jane Aiin Falls; Mark Woodburn, son in law; his sister Joan Falls of Sarasota and brother Edwin Falls of Cape Cod; and his precious nine grandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews.
Services and celebration of life are private and will be at a later date.
