Clyde Allen Purmort II was born in Van Wert, Ohio on November 22, 1932. He graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1951 and attended Miami University in Oxford, OH as well as The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. He has two brothers- Wally Purmort of Van Wert, OH and Wells Purmort of Sarasota, FL.
Al held the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations for property & casualty and corporate risk management excellence. He was a founder of Purmort & Martin Insurance Agency, Inc. and in 1985 left to start Al Purmort Insurance, Inc. He enjoyed the opportunity to work with his son for twenty years and continued to work at the firm until well past 80 years old.
His clients and employees were important to him and he got tremendous satisfaction out of the success of each. Al has supported numerous non-profits over their 50 years in Sarasota and his contributions will be sorely missed.
Al met and married his wife, Cerita Ludwick in 1968 and they had 45 wonderful years together raising their children and grandchildren. Al and his family had many opportunities for traveling, laughing, fishing and playing golf. He loved his roles as a father, husband and the most wonderful grandfather to his six grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cerita; son Clyde Allen Purmort III and wife Kelly and grandchildren Clyde Allen 1V, Kyle Kathryn, Cole Parker and Jacob Kakone; daughter Katie Gauthier, her husband Rick and grandchildren Tyler and Tanner Gauthier.
The funeral will be held at The Church of Redeemer on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11 A.M.
