William L. Bolyard of Sarasota, FL, passed away on September 10, 2013. Bill attended Purdue University and received his degree at University of Miami. In l943, he enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He joined the FBI in 1951 serving until l976 in the San Diego and Atlanta Divisions. In 1976, Bill served as special security consultant to the Saudi Arabian Oil Minister at the OPEC Meeting held at Panama City, FL. In 1977, Bill went back to work as Director of the Florida First Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force which he served until l978, when he joined the University of West Florida as Director of Security and Safety. He also served as an Instructor in the Florida Police Training Program. Bill was a member of the following organizations: Pensacola Yacht Club, where he was Commodore of the club in 1985; Lodge 369, Thomasville, Georgia FAM; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI; The American Legion Post 159, Venice, FL; Retired Employees Association, University of West Florida; Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and The National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma McCutchen Bolyard; children, Gary Bolyard of Birmingham, AL, David (JulieBeth) Bolyard of Mandeville, LA, Jeff (Gretchen) Bolyard of Pensacola, Carol (Michael) Dorety of Sarasota, Jann (Rob Reisinger) Richardson of Sarasota and Julie (Danny) Weil of Largo; grandchildren, David (Stephanie) Bolyard Jr. of Mandeville, LA, Nicole Marsh of Pensacola, Paul Ealy of Indianapolis, IN, Erin Dorety of Sarasota and two great grandchildren, Ethan and Addison Marsh of Pensacola. He is preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Mary Bolyard; a brother, Joe Bolyard, former wife, Ellen McLachan Bolyard and son, Steve Bolyard.
Services will be held Wed. Sept. 25, 2013 at 1 pm at National Cremation and Burial Society with interment to follow at 3 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Another memorial service will be held at a later date in Pensacola.
